Geoffrey is a dedicated and passionate piano teacher and has taught piano for many years, initially setting up his teaching practice in Malta back in 2002.
Since moving to the UK in 2007, Geoffrey has taught privately as well as at the 'Junior Royal Conservatoire of Scotland' (Glasgow) and at 'Craigclowan Preparatory School' (Perth). He has also deputised at other institutions including Douglas Academy Music School (Milngavie).
Lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis and cover piano technique, musicianship as well as music theory. These are tailored to the needs of the student, who can choose whether to sit ABRSM music exams or follow other pathways of learning. Lessons are offered to children as well as adults and the current students’ ages range from 5 to 70 plus. Geoffrey has taught pupils at all levels, ranging from complete beginners to diploma level.
The sessions are 30, 45 or 60 minutes long, and at the moment, lessons are being delivered online via Zoom. Geoffrey has been delivering online piano lessons since March 2020, and the students’ progress has been similar to when lessons were being delivered in person - both for ongoing students and complete beginners. During the lesson, the students are guided through their pieces and exercises as they would usually be in an in person lesson. Afterwards, the student is sent a summary of the main points covered, and a practice plan to help prepare for the next lesson.
