Maltese pianist Geoffrey Tanti has performed extensively in the UK and in Malta, and is in high demand as soloist, accompanist, répétiteur and vocal coach. He works at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as a piano teacher, accompanist and Italian repertoire coach and is an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

 

Geoffrey studied piano in Malta with Cynthia Turner before moving to the UK to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he graduated with a Masters in Piano Performance (with distinction) and a Masters in Répétiteur studies.  He studied with Jonathan Plowright and Julia Lynch and played in masterclasses with Roy Howat, Malcolm Martineau, Balázs Szokolay, Julius Drake, and others. During his studies at the RCS Geoffrey was the winner of various prizes including the 'Hester Dickson Prize' for Best Accompanist in the Lieder Competition, the 'Alex Menzies Memorial Fund', the 'Philip Halstead Prize for Piano' and the 'Leonard Hancock Répétiteur Prize'.

 

Geoffrey’s performing highlights at the RCS include a performance of the Poulenc Piano concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Jolivet Concertino for Piano and Trumpet (Tom Poulson) with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed the Poulenc concerto with the Glasgow Orchestral society.

 

As an accompanist, Geoffrey has worked with many soloists and choirs and has performed at the King’s Hall (London), Usher Hall (Edinburgh), Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Paxton House (Berwick-upon-Tweed), The Three palaces festival (Valletta), Sala Isouard (Valletta), St. James Cavalier (Valletta) and at the Wigmore Hall (London) for the Song Competition in 2013. Geoffrey regularly accompanies the popular male vocal ensemble 'Scozzesi', for the agency 'Classical Musicians Scotland'.

Geoffrey also enjoys leading workshops and choir ensembles and has worked with Scottish soprano Wilma Macdougall at the highly popular and successful ‘Vocal Inspiration’ residential and online singing courses since 2013.
 
For many years, Geoffrey has also worked for ‘Live Music Now (Scotland)’ and for ‘Music in Hospitals’ delivering workshops and performing in various schools and care homes around Scotland.  He has featured on ‘Luminate: Live Music Now Scotland celebrates 30 years’ for Delphian Records.
 
As répétiteur Geoffrey has worked for many companies including Scottish Opera and Opera Bohemia; performing with Opera Bohemia at many Scotland and UK tours. Performances include ‘Madame Butterfly’ – Puccini (2013, 2015, 2016), ‘Eugene Onegin’ – Tchaikovsky (2014), ‘Gianni Schicchi’ – Puccini (2014)  ‘La Traviata’ – Verdi (2016), and ‘The Pearl Fishers’ – Bizet (2017).
 
Geoffrey is also a passionate teacher, and has been teaching piano and coaching singers for many years. He runs his own private practice, but also teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and at ‘The High School of Glasgow'.
